Thailand's caretaker government has cancelled a special parliamentary session to choose a successor to Prime Minister Somchai Wongsawat who was banned from politics for election fraud earlier this week.
A government spokesman said Monday's planned session would be postponed indefinitely. A court ruling to oust Somchai and ban his ruling party effectively led to the termination of large scale opposition protests that brought Bangkok's two main airports to a complete standstill.
