Germany's lower house of parliament, the Bundestag has approved the second stage of a 32-billion-euro economic stimulus package.
German Chancellor Angela Merkel said the two-year rescue plan would secure one million jobs and boost consumption and investments in industry, private households and local councils. The measures include higher family allowances and tax breaks for children as well as steps to encourage investment in energy-efficient buildings and incentives for car buyers, but not tax cuts.
